Seattle Storm | Embrace the Storm

AXLE joined forces with the Seattle Storm to create this powerful opening night video featuring athletes Sue Bird and Crystal Langhorne. We began with a concept based around the power of this championship winning team and their ability to grab the attention of Seattle like a storm too large to ignore. As the storm stretches out to the far regions of the state, a young girl is inspired by her idols and proudly embraces the approaching storm.

This project brought us out to the beautiful city of Seattle, where we had the pleasure of shooting with Sue Bird in the iconic Seattle Space Needle. The city exceeded our expectations in many ways and the weather was perfect… almost too perfect. With the theme of the video being an approaching storm over Seattle, it was our luck that both shoot-days delivered beautiful sunny weather without a cloud in the sky. Fortunately this wasn’t a problem for our VFX artists, as we planned on replacing the sky in all of these shots anyway. In the end we were very pleased with the final result; After all, the VFX and sky replacements were made. The Seattle Storm revealed this video on opening night to their proud fans as they accepted their championship rings. We were happy to see the crowd erupt when the big storm cloud over Seattle was finally revealed. This storm was a symbol for the teams strength and their positive influence on young athletes everywhere, and their fans only confirmed this was the case on opening night. Congratulations to the Seattle Storm on their 2018 WNBA Championship Season.
